Fall 2017 Parking Lot Changes

Many changes to the parking lots have taken place over the summer.  We want to ensure your parking experience is pleasant so please familiarize yourself with the changes listed below.

Commuter Student Parking Lot Changes:

  • Lot 13 and 21 – A limited number of Gold+13 permits have been sold and are valid in Lot 13 Blue and Gold lots 26, 30, 32 and 50. In addition, a limited number of Gold+21 permits were sold and will be valid in designated spaces in the west end of Lot 21 and Gold lots 26, 30, 32 & 50.
  • Lot 30 – Solar panels have been installed in sections 4 and 5 of Lot 30.
  • Lot 32 – Solar panels have been installed in Lot 32 which includes the addition of lights throughout the parking lot. The entrance to Lot 32 will close at dusk.
  • Lot 50 – Lot 50 will reopen for the Fall quarter for Gold permit holders.
  • Falkirk – A limited number of overflow gold parking spaces are available in the Falkirk Apartment Complex adjacent to Lot 26.  See the gold parking map  for current gold permit parking locations.
  • Remote Parking - A new remote parking permit is available to undergraduate commuters. The permit is valid Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-5:00 PM in designated spaces in the Gethsemane Church parking lot located at 891 Blaine Street (on the corner of Canyon Crest Drive and Blaine Street) AND after 4:00 PM Monday-Friday and all day on weekends in all non-reserved spaces in Red, Blue and Gold permit lots on campus.
  • Free Parking at Hunter Park Metrolink Station - The Riverside Hunter Park/UCR Station is an official county sponsored Park & Ride lot and offers complimentary parking for commuters.  The station is located at 1101 Marlborough Avenue, Riverside.  From there you can take RTA Route 52 directly to campus. Bus service begins at 5:10 AM and the last bus back from UCR is at 7:30 PM.  Buses run approximately every 30-40 minutes.  The P2P shuttle will take students back to the Hunter Park Metrolink Station in the evenings between 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM.

Resident Student Parking Lot Changes:

  • Parking Restrictionresidential freshman are not allowed to purchase a parking permit unless they are approved for an exception.
  • Lot 21 – A portion of Lot 21 has been converted to Gold Plus parking to be used by Gold+21 permit holders only.  Resident permit holders should enter Lot 21 from Pentland Way.
  • Oban – Oban has been converted to family housing.   An Oban resident permit is required to park in the resident spaces and inside the gated area.

  • Falkirk, Oban and Pentland Way Dispensers – the dispensers for these parking locations have been removed. Permits for these locations may be purchased via ParkMobile.

Other Parking Lot Changes:

  • Pay by Phone (ParkMobile) – Parkmobile, an app that allows you to pay for short-term parking, is now available in some locations. Please see our website for details.
  • Lot 6 Lower Permit Dispenser - the dispenser for this section of the lot has been removed. Permits may be purchased via ParkMobile.
  • Botanic Gardens –Hourly parking permits are now available for $2 for 1 hour and $3 for 2 hours.

  • Lot 13 and Lot 10 – K-rail has been installed between these lots to reduce vehicle speeds while traveling through the lots and to increase pedestrian safety.

  • University Avenue and Canyon Crest – K-rail has been installed as the roadway curve to increase safety.  Vehicles will no longer be able to use this area to drop off passengers.

  •  Lot 27 – A new lot was created to accommodate Student Recreation Center visitors.  Any valid red, blue or gold UCR permit can park here up to 90 minutes, one time per day.
